This course aims to provide an introductory overview of the law of armed conflict. The main applicable Conventions (in particular the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1977 Additional Protocols) and customary law are analysed, both in the law relating to means and methods of warfare and in the law relating to the protection of persons. It is intended for persons who have in principle already taken courses in general international law, and in particular for students of BARI and the Faculty of Law[1].
